Once you’ve skied in Zermatt, you’ll always want to return. A typical Swiss mountain village, reached only be train, with chocolate box chalets and no cars, first class skiing and first class food!
Ski area
210km of marked pistes with bountiful off-piste routes and freeride terrain. The three main areas are all linked – the Klein Matterhorn-Schwarzee being the largest, with a massive vertical drop of over 2km back down to the town. Sunnegga-Rothorn has some fabulous skiing amongst the trees, and the Gornegrat-Stockhorn has everything in between. And last, but definitely not least, you can ski over the top and down in Italy, all the way to Cervinia.
Pistes
The Zermatt slopes are heaven for intermediates and beyond. Long, beautifully groomed blues – the Riffelhorn is a great way to start the morning; challenging reds – the White Hare will make your glutes work, to the knee cracking Triftji Bumps – a mogul field that only the best should attempt!
Restaurants
What can we say? Zermatt has some of the best mountain restaurants anywhere – be sure to book well in advance. Chez Vrony, Franz & Heidi and Stafelalp are just a few of our favourites – all with views of the Matterhorn.
Après-ski
For party vibes after a day on the slopes, click off your skis at the Hennu Stall or Papperla for cocktails and dancing. And no visit to Zermatt should be without an evening at Elsie’s, for fresh oysters and champagne.

Views that will be imprinted on your mind forever. From the very first time you wind your way up on the train and you glimpse the Matterhorn at the far end of the valley, you’ll never tire of looking up at it.
