Écrin Blanc – Courchevel, France
With a trap one location at the bottom of the Grandes Combes lift, between Moriond and Courchevel Village, Écrin Blanc is a chic and friendly family hotel. Its white modern Savoyard façade stands out on the slopes, and its contemporary interiors are made cosy with plenty of traditional Alpine features. All you need is here – excellent cuisine, efficient staff and a ski shop. And there’s the added bonus of having complimentary access to Aquamotion – France’s largest high altitude water park. food
We love the farm to fork approach at Écrin Blanc. Seasonal and regional produce is the staple fare, created into delicious dishes and served throughout all its restaurants. Eat in the bright and buzzy Grill and Terrace – and outside when it’s sunny, choosing from a menu with an international twist, Savoyard favourites and pizza . Make a bee line to the Chocolate Factory for cake each afternoon and find a cosy sofa in the Ski Pizi bar with its very tempting choice of cocktails.
activities
With instant access to the whole of the Trois Vallées – 600km of piste – skiers of all levels aren’t short of places to ski. Within minutes you can reach Courchevel 1850, and choose from wide, cruisy slopes, vertical drops or gentle, tree-lined trails. Neither will non-skiers ever be bored. There’s dog sledding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, all of which can be organised by the concierge.
If you’re here during summer, the choice is equally exhilarating with canyoning and rafting, mountain biking and climbing. The big attraction at Écrin Blanc is the access to Aquamotion – a waterpark accessed through a private tunnel – and for which guests have complimentary use. And if that’s all a bit exhausting, it also has a wellness centre with saunas, jacuzzis, a salt grotto and a team of therapists for après ski massages and treatments. The hotel has its own ski shop and rental service, so everything you need is on site.
family
Écrin Blanc is one of the most fun hotels in Courchevel for families, especially those with younger children. And being close to plenty of green and blue runs, it’s the ideal place for beginners. For après ski entertainment, just head through the private underground tunnel to Aquamotion, where you’ll find 11 pools and lagoons, indoor surfing, waterslides and a wellness therapy (for the grown ups). The hotel also a children’s club for younger guests between 4 and 11.
Run by a team of professionals, it’s open during school holidays from 8am – 10pm, and at weekends at all other times. For guests with babies, nannies and babysitters are available on request. Many of the suites are set up for families and the restaurant has a children’s menu.
