Why Visit Mexico?

Food

With its distinct combination of spices, and recipes honed from a variety of colourful cultures, Mexican food is a reflection of its people. Try chilaquilies for breakfast; keep an eye out for chiles en nogada – it looks like the Mexican flag – and feast on tacos al pastor – one of the most popular type of tacos.

Culture

Mexico was home to some of history’s great civilisations. The Aztecs, Maya, Zapotec have all left their mark with archaeological sites, temples, tombs and pyramids across the land – those at Chichén Itzá being the most impressive. Modern day Mexico is no less impressive with festivals throughout the year, celebrating independence, ancient relatives, and all manner of saints.

Beaches

With 5,800 miles of coastline along the Caribbean and Pacific, Mexico has some of the best beaches in the world. Whether you’re looking for surf, coral for diving or just a palm fringed stretch of paradise for doing not a great deal at all, there’s a beach for you.

Landscape

Dormant volcanoes, steamy rainforests, deep canyons, waterfalls and ancient sinkholes, Mexico has its fair share of stunning scenery and places to explore. It’s blessed with numerous national parks, and has vast swathes of protected areas, full of a wide variety of wildlife.

Mexico City

If you take the lift to the top of the Torre Latinoamericana you get an incredible panoramic view of this bustling, high altitude city to the mountains beyond. Founded by the conquistadors on top of an ancient settlement, it has been an important cultural hub for ever. It is home to world class architecture – old and new, fabulous parks and well-curated museums and the spectacular Zócalo – the historic central square.
