Spread throughout the village amongst the trees, the rustic Scandi style suites and cabins are cosy and luxurious. Warm throws and rugs adorn the beds and floors, and many come with a fireplace. The crowning glory for most of them, is surely the glass roofs that you can lie under, watching the Northern Lights. The Sky View Suites are self-contained cabins that can sleep a family of four and have laser heated slanted windows for viewing the lights.
The Aurora Cabins are perfect for couples, whilst the larger Aurora Suites can sleep five, and as well as having a glass roof, come with a private sauna. Nestled a bit deeper in the trees, the Taiga Forest Cabins are luxurious retreats that can accommodate up to six guests in two bedrooms.
food
The restaurant has the same welcoming feel as the cabins – wood panelled and large windows brining the outside in. Local and seasonal produce fills the menu with a mix of Lappish and international cuisine.
activities
Whilst many travel here in the winter, Finnish Lapland is an all year round destination, with plenty to see and do whatever the season. Winter brings the chance to see the Aurora Borealis, and a stay at the village give you plenty of opportunity, be it by snowmobile or on a heated sleigh. There’s the traditional husky sledding, taking you through the fells and over frozen lakes, and you’ll get the chance to meet some very friendly reindeer.
The village has snowshoes and cross country skis for guests – and a guide will take you along some of the many trails. Visit here during the summer, where the sun doesn’t set for two months and the evening skies are pink and orange. Go husky hiking, lake fishing and explore on electric fat bikes. This is Sámi country, and we highly recommend a visit to Nellim, where the various cultures come together. Then back at the village relax in an igloo sauna or a hot tub.
family
A visit to see Father Christmas in his workshop really is a bucket list trip. Add that to the custom built toboggan run and snowmobile track here, you’ve got the perfect recipe for some unadulterated family fun.
sustainability
Being in one of Europe’s last remaining wildernesses comes with responsibility. Northern Lights Village respects its natural surroundings and ensures that all heat is generated sustainably with geothermal heat pumps.
