Ski Area

One of the largest ski areas in Switzerland, there are over 120km of runs – and that’s just the pisted ones – and reaches an altitude of 2961m. There has many much investment in lift infrastructure recently, and the fast links to Sedrun ensure skiing for all levels.

Pistes

Most of the skiing is above the treeline, thanks to the height of the resort. In Nätschen there’s a good choice of cruisy blues, whilst intermediates head over to Gurschenalp for some well-groomed reds. The northern slopes of the Gemsstock remain skiable for most of the day. Take a guide and enjoy some of the best off-piste runs in the Alps.

Restaurants

You’re not short of places to eat on the slopes or in the village. The snug and cosy cabin Vinothek 1620 has a hearty menu and a fabulous wine list. The Chedi has a second Japanese restaurant on the slopes in Gütsch, with spectacular views over the Gotthard mountains and a Michelin star. In the evening, head to Biselli for delicious pizzas and steak.

Après ski

From a warming glühwein in front of a roaring fire, to a ride on the Après Ski Bar Train, or to the chic Big T Bar in Dieni, Sedrun, there’s something for all tastes.

Unique to Andermatt

This is where the Swiss Army used to train, and somewhere, deep within the mountains, is a secret military bunker. It is also home to the Devil’s Bridge over the Schöllen Gorge – an incredible landmark – and one that provides access to the famous St Gotthard Pass.
