Lech Am Alberg – Austria

Lech is part of Austria’s largest connected ski area

One of the country’s chicest and most cosmopolitan resorts, Lech has been attracting the cognoscenti to its slopes for over a century.

With a total of 85 lifts and over 300km of runs, linking St Anton, St Christophe, Zürs, Stuben and Zug, there are slopes for beginners right above the village and challenging blacks and thrilling off piste for the hardiest of skiers – the Langer Zug with an 80% gradient is one of the steepest groomed runs in the world. The resort also has the highest average snowfall of any major area in the Alps. The village has retained its charm, with chocolate box chalets and hotels and plenty of traditional stube serving traditional dishes, together with a sophisticated choice of après ski stops. Non-skiers enjoy beautiful trails around the village and beyond, sleigh rides and some of the region’s most beautiful scenery.
