From action packed adventures in underground caves to relaxing by the beach or on the deck of a sail boat there is something for everyone. Wrapped up with breath taking scenery, historic landmarks and a warm welcome from the locals and you have the perfect family holiday. Read on to find out more.
Where you'll stay - Andaz Mayakoba
Andaz Mayakoba is the ideal home base for a full action-packed week of adventure. It’s a vibrant and chic beach retreat that sits within jungle and lagoons, on the white sandy shores of the Mayan Riviera. The lush and leafy surroundings are full of exotic birds and a monkey or two, celebrating Mexican culture and spirit. It’s a place for winding down – everything runs at a gloriously relaxed pace and attentive staff seem to anticipate your every need.
Day 1 to 2 : Explore the Caribbean Sea on a private sailing trip
Arrive at the iconic city of Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Mexico before travelling to your hotel on the Mayan Riviera and spend the remainder of the day settling in and relaxing. The next day it’s time to start your adventure exploring the Caribbean Sea and the bay of Cancun and Isla Mujeres, on an unforgettable luxury private sailing trip on a 41-foot catamaran. Go for a swim or snorkel around one of the largest coral reefs in the world, enjoying the colourful marine life and unbeatable views.
Day 3: Discover Tulum and the Sian Ka’an
Experience one of Mexico’s most important protected areas, the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. A guide will be on hand to talk you through this topical paradise which is home to big cats, monkeys, whales, and more. And they’ll be a chance to swim down the Sian Ka’an’s clear waterways or float along the river. You’ll then journey to Tulum to explore the great Maya fortress which sits right next to the Caribbean Sea.
Day 4: Enjoy a family day
Take the time to relax and make the most of the facilities on your doorstop. From exploring the nature trails, swimming in the pools and enjoying the white sand beach. Make the most of the kids club where the children can enjoy arts and crafts and plenty of games and head out for some adult R&R. Head to the spa, enjoy a tasty lunch or take in a round of golf.
Day 5: Discover Rio Secreto
A short drive from the hotel are the underground rivers and caverns of Rio Secreto. These are by far the longest partially flooded caves in the area and the perfect place to adventure and discover your wild side. Head underground and spend the day exploring caves and rivers, you’ll have to travel deep into the jungle to get to the entrance. You’ll see beautiful stalactites and stalagmites and other geological formations that have to be seen to be believed.
Day 6: Swim with whale sharks
What better way to end the week than swimming than a once in a lifetime encounter with the majestic whale shark. This dream family experience is a private excursion with an expert guide, where you’ll snorkel alongside these gentle ocean giants. Spend two hours taking in their beauty and size in the warm waters before returning to your hotel for a final evening recounting memories of the day and a final meal at one of the five exceptional restaurants. The next day you’ll enjoy a private, stress free transfer back to Cancun for your flight onward or home.
