It might not be the first place you think of, but Iceland is a magical destination for couples with so much to do and explore. Whether you visit in the depths of winter to enjoy the Northern Lights, snowmobiling, skiing and cosying up by the fire, or in the summer when you can go whale watching, visit waterfalls and geysers and enjoy a dip in the geothermal hot springs, there is something for everyone.

EXPLORE: Northern Iceland - Day 1 to 4
Think of a vast wilderness of active volcanoes, lava fields, hot springs, vertiginous fjords and roaring waterfalls – that’s Northern Iceland. Surrounded by a jagged coastline and icy seascapes, it has an otherworldly beauty. Along the coast, small fishing towns and villages stand colourfully at the water’s edge. You’ll find plenty of Minke, Humpback and other whale species here attracted by the rich breeding ground for fish.
Inland is much more sparsely populated and is the perfect location for some more adrenaline fuelled activities such as heliskiing. Enjoy breath taking views with epic summit to sea descents in untracked powder. A visit here will affect each and every one of your senses.
STAY: Deplar Farm
In the very north of Iceland just outside the Artic Circle is Deplar Farm. What was once a sheep farm, is now a high end luxury lodge. Situated west of Reykjavík, the Golden Circle route is one of the most famous in Iceland and takes you through some of the country’s most extraordinary scenery and to several of its more spectacular and historically significant attractions. This 250km journey gives you a taste for this unique country, its unusual geology, unworldly landscapes and landmarks and rich culture. Easily travelled in a day, it’s also entirely possible to spread it out longer, with extra activities and adventures along the way.
STAY: Torfhús Retreat
Way off the beaten track, in a spectacular setting, yet within reach of the hot springs, geysers, waterfalls and the black shores of the southern coast is Torfhús. VISIT: Southwest Iceland - Day 7 to 9
This part of Iceland is a smorgasbord of geological wonders. Everywhere you turn, there’s a glacier, volcano, canyon, waterfall, geyser or an iceberg. When you feel like a more cosmopolitan vibe there’s Reykjavík, the world’s most northerly capital, with its striking brightly coloured buildings, buzzing cafés and restaurants, galleries and boutiques. This corner of Iceland has plenty to offer for any traveller.
STAY: Blue Lagoon Iceland
The Blue Lagoon is a retreat hotel carved into volcanic rock, looking out over a mossy and stark landscape.
