food
The fabulously decorated Restaurant Le Bonami, with its brightly coloured velvet chairs and banquettes is vibrant and buzzy. Serving a delicious mix of Savoyard and Italian mountain dishes, hearty bowls of soup and a very indulgent pudding menu, there’s something for every palette. Together with the St B Bar, it opens out onto a sunny terrace, with sun beds, fire pits and stunning cinematic views. And for those with a really sweet tooth, you won’t be able to resist the Tonka chocolate shop…
activities
Just 100m from Les Eucherts Express lift, I.L.Y La Rosière promises ski-in/ski-out access, with more than one hundred and fifty kilometres of slopes for all levels at the tips of your skis or snowboard. Fabulously wide slopes and challenging off piste descents, as well as tremendous ski touring terrain, will keep you going for well over a week. And all the equipment you need can be rented from the hotel’s ski shop.
All year round the glass fronted Spa, with its spectacular panoramic views has a large heated pool, three treatment rooms, a sauna and steam room and three whirlpools – one of which sits outside on the terrace. The treatments use organic ingredients from mountain plants and minerals with re-energising properties. It’s just too tempting after a day in the mountains.
family
I.L.Y La Rosière is very much a family hotel. The rooms and suites are specifically designed with families in mind and the hotel has a kids’ club “Les Galopins” for children between eighteen months and twelve years old. Indoor and outdoor activities and creative programmes fill the days throughout the winter and the summer, some of which are free, and others come with a charge. Individual and group ski lessons can be arranged through the hotel with ESF and Evolution 2, with freeride and freestyle sessions also an option.
sustainability
I.L.Y La Rosière has a genuine green commitment, with an aim to protect and preserve its mountain environment. There’s a zero tolerance to plastic – no single-use items or even anything decorative. Energy comes from green sources; water usage is monitored, and cleaning products are all environmentally friendly. Produce is organic and sourced locally wherever possible. Each month a “dark dinner” is held, reducing energy consumption and showcasing the beauty of the night sky.
Summer
When the snow has melted, and the mountains reveal their summer glory, La Rosière offers uncrowded hiking and biking trails. Criss cross the French Italian border and enjoy the delights of the mountain restaurants, or pack a picnic and find a remote spot on the southern flanks of Mont Blanc.
