We believe the best way to complement a winter on the slopes is with a summer on the water, there is no better way to get your fresh air and adventure fix. We have a selection of sailing experiences across the globe that will make a trip of a lifetime.
The world (or should we say sea) is your oyster…. Read on to discover some of our favourite sailing itineraries:
Sail the Turkish Riviera – Turkey
Sailing on the beautiful and traditional wooden gulet, “Salamander”, this is the chance to explore the glittering Turkish Riviera, littered with its ancient cities, isolated villages, fascinating tombs, endless sandy beaches, hidden coves and pine forested hills.
There are archaeological ruins at every turn, from the Lost City of Phoenix with its ancient ruins of Acropolis to the ancient Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffs around 400BC. Ashore guests can explore coves and beaches – the 11-mile stretch of unspoiled Patara Beach is particularly stunning as is Hamam Bay, where Cleopatra is said to have bathed in twice a week, and Dalyan Turtle Beach, home to protected species of turtles.
Sail the Ionian – Greece
The sparkling Grecian coastline: nowhere is more magical for sleeping under starry nights. Whether superyacht or catamaran some of the most popular routes include the Northern Ionian Islands. There are no set itineraries but plenty of route options and opportunities for dining in local tavernas.
Known to be one of the best sailing areas in the world with little tide and just the right amount of wind, the Ionian Islands tick all the boxes. Aside from star-studded skies, this corner of the globe is steeped in antiquity with a tapestry of cultures – the Venetians in 13th century, French in the 19th century followed by the British Empire. There are fascinating sites to explore, but also plenty of time to snorkel, water-ski, wake board, paddleboard or windsurf on the crystal seas.
Sail the British Virgin Islands
Caribbean blues, tropical greens and ivory white sands make up this insanely beautiful paradise. With 60 islands, we truly believe that this is a place best explored from the water. We can curate tailormade itineraries to include both secluded anchorages and beachside bars for a spot of sophistication and locally caught lobster.
From swimming with turtles and anchoring in impossibly pretty, secluded coves for a beach picnic to exploring the islands’ history of piracy and Dutch settlers, or venturing into the thrumming heart of the island for some laidback partying at one of the swanky beach clubs. We also know the prettiest bays for a pre-lunch snorkel and the most ravishing sunset spots (on deck or on land) across the islands. On land, Anegada Island is one of our favourites with a series of salt ponds, and home to neon pink Caribbean flamingos.
Sail the Dalmation Coast – Croatia
How we love the Dalmatian Coast for its stark beauty, rich cultural heritage and empty coves! Expect sleepy islands all to yourselves, secret coves for secluded swims and some of the best fish restaurants. You can choose from catamarans or large monohulls – both fitted to the highest spec.
Soak up the historic walled city of Dubrovnik, the medieval walls of Trogir and the empty coves around the island of Vis, while the south offers dramatic beaches and the stunning archipelago of the Kornati Islands. Said to be one of the last wilderness spots in Europe this is off-grid sailing at its very best and around 150 scattered islands and reefs to explore. And then from pristine nature there are the sophisticated beach clubs of Hvar for more lively evenings.
Sail the Komodo islands – Indonesia
What about a luxury phinsi yacht sailing the sparkling Indian Ocean, exploring tiny islands and snorkelling or diving in the surrounding crystal clear waters? We have Tiger Blue in mind – perfect for two families sleeping up to 12 people. A real life Robinson Crusoe adventure (with a few luxuries thrown in…)
As with all our sailing itineraries, no two days are ever the same. So, whether you want to just anchor down and soak up the scenery, spend the day on a secluded beach or whether you want to throw in a bit more adventure… Eastern Indonesia has it all. With the richest biodiversity of marine life in the world you can expect impressive diving, go in search of the infamous Komodo dragon or enjoy sea kayaking or water skiing, courtesy of Tiger Blue.
Sail the ancient trade routes – Oman
Discover Oman’s secret islands, diverse marine life and ancient trading routes aboard this new, first of its kind, modern dhow – The Ibra Dhow. This is Omani luxury at its very best with its own swimming platform and completely bespoke itineraries to capture the spirit of this magical place.
Thanks to its location along ancient trade routes, Oman’s coastline is a fascinating melting pot of cultures and influences, traces of which can clearly be seen in its varied and colourful coastal towns and villages. This is a chance to delve into its rich cultural heritage, not to mention enjoy stunning views of dramatic landscapes, crystal clear turquoise waters and pristine white sandy beaches. And nowhere showcases a rich and diverse marine life better than the secret Dimaniyat Islands, one of the highlights of The Ibra Dhow experience.
