  • 500g ground meat (beef or lamb)
  • 1 finely grated onion
  • 3 large tomatoes (or one tin of chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • To make Kefta Tagine, start by mixing the ground meat with grated onion, garlic, spices, parsley and cilantro.
  • Form small meatballs with your hands from the mixture.
  • In a tagine or deep pan, heat olive oil and cook the chopped tomatoes with some garlic, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper to create a flavourful sauce.
  • Once the sauce simmers, gently add the meatballs.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for about 30-40 minutes, allowing the flavours to blend.
  • You can also crack a few eggs over the top near the end of cooking, if desired.
  • Garnish with the fresh parsley
