Natural Wonders

From Uluru in the heart of the Outback, to the Great Barrier Reef, from the Twelve Apostles along the Victoria coast to the sandy Fraser Island, Australia is bursting with stunning and extraordinary natural landmarks. Many are sacred and can only be viewed from afar, whilst others are there to be explored.

Sydney

The harbour is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the instantly recognisable opera house and bridge the main attractions. Explore the city by ferry; delve deep into the lively suburbs (Surry Hills, Balmain and Paddington have great vibes), visit the zoo, and spend an afternoon on Manly or Bondi.

Food & wine

Australia’s thriving food scene is heavily influenced by its rich, multicultural heritage, and you’ll find cities full of high end eateries. The country’s climate also makes it a perfect grape growing region, and with modern winemaking techniques, many of its wines are consistent international award winners.

The Coastline

With nearly 36,000km of coastline, encompassing over 11,000 beaches, coral reefs and stunning islands, you’re likely to spend much of your time near water. Diving off the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia is a highlight, as is driving along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, or being dazzled by the perfect Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays.

Wildlife

You can’t visit without seeing at least one of Australia’s more unusual natural residents. Watch the fairy penguins come into roost at dusk on Phillip Island; hear the galas in the trees in the cities, or the unmistakable sound of a kookaburra, and maybe see a dugong off the Barrier Reef. You can even visit Kangaroo Island.

Road Trips

The journey is just as important as the destination, so one of the best ways to explore this diverse country is along one of its many spectacular routes. Cross the Great Australian Bight on the Nullarbor Plain; drive the Great Southern Touring Route, or Queensland’s Great Sunshine Way.
